SIKESTON, Mo. -- A shake and bake meth lab was uncovered in Sikeston over the weekend, leading to an arrest.

Officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety were called out around 10:25 p.m. to 227 Russell in Sikeston in regard to a strong odor of ether and tip there was a possible meth lab at the residence.

Officers located the lab when they arrived and the smell likely came from the meth being cooked for too long. Shake and bake labs are a newer process, DPS officials explained. It cuts out the several small steps of the meth-making process and instead there is one large process, with all the ingredients being mixed at once.

Danny L. Staggs, 37, was charged with manufacturing and possession with intent to distribute. As of press time, he remained in the Scott County Jail under a $75,000 cash or surety bond

DPS officials said other arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
