Police responded to the Fox home early Monday morning after Pamela Fox called saying her husband had been accidentally shot. William Fox was found with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Pamela Fox initially told police her husband had been shot while she tried to wrestle a gun from him during an argument. Police suspected foul play and confronted Pamela Fox with inconsistencies in her recounting of what happened, and she then confessed, according to the press release.

William Fox is currently in stable condition, police said. His wife is charged with first degree domestic assault and armed criminal action by the New Madrid County Prosecutor's Office. She remains in the New Madrid County Jail without bond awaiting arraignment.
