Simplicity has its own beauty. That's true of homes, also.

The basic ranch-style home is an example of that. It's about function: a simple floor plan that fits a family's needs.

The home in Scott City is simple. It fits all the basic requirements -- three bedrooms, two full baths, a level, easily maintained yard in an established neighborhood plus two one-car garages.

The living room features gray, plush carpeting, white walls and an oak divider to the kitchen. Large picture windows look over the front yard.

The home has a large kitchen with Berber carpeting in neutral tones, oak cabinets with antique brass and porcelain pulls and plenty of cabinetry and counter space. Amenities include a double sink with a gooseneck stainless steel faucet, a smooth top range with a tile backsplash, a built-in oven and tasteful wallpaper in a small floral pattern. New thermopane windows and doors are found throughout the house.

A sliding door exits to a one-car garage, and a family room has been added to the home. That area extends into a large shop room and a second garage.

Each of the bedrooms has plenty of natural light and closet space.

The main level bathroom features ceramic tile, and the bath, sink and toilet are all in a custom light pink color. An attic fan helps the heating and air-conditioning efficiency of this home.

The finished basement includes a large finished family room with sculptured plush brown carpeting and light walls for easy decorating. A large laundry and storage room is also downstairs, as well as plenty of storage space and another workshop area, which includes a shop bench and tool storage area.

The home's third bedroom is also located downstairs, and includes two windows for natural light, and plenty of closet space.

This one-owner home, which is about 38 years old, occupies a large corner lot with lots of privacy. The white aluminum siding and brown brick make for an attractive and easily maintained exterior.
