That's a nearly 12 percent increase for the Edwardsville campus where tuition would reach $5,850 a year.

The Carbondale tuition increase is nearly 10 percent. Tuition would be $6,975, if approved.

Fees would rise by more than $250 under the proposal.

Graduate students would face increases, too. But only incoming freshmen, among the undergrads, would be affected thanks to the state's guaranteed tuition law.
