FARMINGTON, Mo. -- The small southeastern Missouri town of Iron Mountain Lake soon could dissolve if some residents get their way.

The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Missouri, reported a petition with 131 approved signatures has been presented asking the St. Francois County Commission to dissolve the town of about 740 residents. Iron Mountain Lake is about 80 miles south of St. Louis.

Because only 119 signatures were needed, the measure will be put on the April ballot. If a majority of residents approve, the town would be disincorporated.
