Southeast grad appears on TV show

Stephanie Perry, a 2004 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, will be a contestant on a new reality show on cable network Spike TV.

"Murder," premiering at 9 p.m. July 31, follows real people as they attempt to solve actual homicide cases pulled directly from police files. Perry said she was picked for the show after watching "CSI" on Spike TV and responding to a call for contestants.

"I saw a commercial about it, so I went to the Web site and filled out the questions," Perry said. "I had to do a videotaped phone interview and take an IQ test, and here I am."

Perry, who lives in Alabama with her husband but is planning to move back to Missouri, said she remembers her time at Southeast fondly.

"I have to say that was one of the best experiences of my life," she said. "There are so many special memories I will always take with me: Cardiac Hill, the wonderful professors, the people of Cape Girar-deau."

Perry graduated with a bachelor's degree in recreation and is an active member of the Army National Guard. She also has lead Special Olympics programs for Columbia, Mo., and plans on returning to college in the future.

"My mother-in-law would like me to pursue a career in radio," Perry said. "But I think I would like to go back to school and get my master's degree in something like counseling."

Perry is originally from Brighton, Ill.
