Southeast Missouri State University and Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., have formed a partnership on agriculture initiatives in the areas of teaching, research and outreach.

According to Dr. Mike Aide, chairman of the Department of Agriculture at Southeast, the two institutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on courses, research and professional outreach. The universities will partner on courses such as hydrology, small animals and beef production, offering courses in these areas to students by using online or interactive television formats. For courses where one of the universities has a comparative advantage, students will be allowed to enroll in courses at both universities, Aide said.

Southeast and Lincoln University plan to begin the partnership on coursework during the spring 2014 semester. Southeast and its regional campuses will participate in Lincoln's extension outreach, Aide said, and the two schools plan to explore the possibility of student and faculty exchanges.
