The ASSET exam, which evaluates a student's educational background for admission and placement in some areas and is an alternative to the ACT, will be offered Aug. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Testing Services Office

The "ASSET" exam is for students who are 21 years of age or older, have been out of school at least three years, have not taken an ACT test and have had no previous college experience.

Those taking this exam should bring a photo I.D. ASSET test scores are valid only at Southeast, and like scores from the Residual ACT will be reported only to Southeast.

Southeast will offer its final "First Step" session, an orientation and registration program, Aug. 24 for students wishing to begin school this fall.

The program, in which new students register for classes and meet with advisers, will begin at 8 a.m. in Academic Hall Auditorium and run through 3 p.m. To pre-register for the Aug. 24 session, call the Orientation Program Office.
