CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Rose~mary A. Bishop, a registered nursed, has been named director of cardiopulmonary services at St. Francis Medical Center.

Bishop, currently the managing director of invasive cardiology at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida, will begin her duties at St. Francis this month.

As director of cardiology services at St. Francis, Bishop will supervise patient-care services in the medical center's cardiac catheterization laboratory, non-invasive vascular lab and other activities in the St. Francis cardiopulmonary services wing.

She will also work with the hospital's recently-established open-heart surgery program.

In addition to serving as managing director of invasive cardiology at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Bishop also served as coordinator of that facility's cardiac catheterization laboratory and as a cardiovascular staff nurse.

She was also responsible for establishing and managing a cardiac rehabilitation program for Sarasota Cardiovascular Rehab Associates.

She was graduated with honors from Manatee Junior College in Bradenton, Fla., where she earned a nursing degree in 1982. In 1989, she was graduated with honors from St. Leo College in St. Leo, Fla., with a bachelor's degree in health-care administration.

Bishop has been active in the American Heart Association and the Junior League of Sarasota. She is married and has a 12-year-old son.
