The Cancercare Program at St. Francis Medical Center has been granted a three-year continuation of its accreditation as a "Comprehensive Cancer Program" by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer.

St. Francis President John E. Fidler was notified of the accreditation renewal earlier this month by Dr. David Winchester, the commission's medical director.

"This accreditation renewal indicates that the commission has found that all elements are in place and functioning to provide comprehensive oncology services here," commented Jo Clayton-Dodd, coordinator of the St. Francis oncology program.

Oncology services available at St. Francis include inpatient and outpatient care, chemotherapy, surgical intervention, mammography and other screenings and several cancer detection and educational programs.
