Due to the weather forecast calling for precipitation Tuesday, the National Weather Service has postponed the scheduled annual statewide tornado drill. According to a news release issued Monday, the drill will now take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, when forecast calls for sunshine.
The change to Thursday is for the entire state of Missouri, including Cape Girardeau, Scott City, Jackson and on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
The drill be will initiated by the National Weather Service and each of the cities' 911 dispatch centers will activate the outdoor tornado sirens. The drill will take approximately 15 minutes.
