Reopening a business can be as exciting as opening it.

Mom's Treasures, which moved to 326 S. Sprigg, changed more than its location; it also changed its style when it reopened June 5.

Darrell McIntyre and his wife, Nancy, started the store nine months ago at 329 S. Sprigg. At that time, Mom's Treasures dealt only in used goods.

"We now deal in new items too. We sell new and used furniture, glassware other merchandise," Mr. McIntyre said. "We have a little bit of everything."

Some of the items available in the shop include living room and bedroom suites, bunk beds and more. "We handle appliances and TVs too," said Mr. McIntyre, "anything you'd need for a household, we handle it. We try to get things people just collect, like antiques and little knick knacks people just put on the shelf. We also sell Indian jewelry."

He said he hopes to deal more in antique items in the future. "We have some antiques," he said. "But we plan on having more later. We'd like to get it going good before we invest in antiques."

One way the owners plan to make the business a success is to keep their prices low.

"We have checked around and we've lowered our prices where we can still make it," Mr. McIntyre said, "but we're one of the lowest prices you'll find. We went to consignment shops, used furniture stores, shops with glassware and antiques, looking at their prices. Our stuff moves quick. I'd rather ask a little and move a lot than to ask a lot and move a little."

One way the store helps people purchase things in the store is by offering a 30-day layaway plan. They also will usually hold merchandise for people for a short period of time.

Although it's not a consignment store, he said people are welcome to bring their things in and the McIntyres may purchase it outright.
