CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- A teenage bicyclist was arrested after officers discovered he was carrying illegal drugs.

The Sikeston Standard Democrat reported that at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Caruthersville officers received information a person was in possession of drugs and stopped the person while he was riding a bike on East 13th Street, according to Caruthersville Police Chief Chris Riggs. "Upon further investigation, officers located a large amount of crack cocaine on the subject," Riggs said in a news release.

The 18-year-old Caruthersville man was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to deliver. He is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.

Riggs said the man's name was not being released pending the filing of formal charges.
