Icy morning commute?

Ice is again threatening the Southeast Missourian coverage area of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Perry, Scott and Stoddard counties, threatening to create a slick morning commute for drivers.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the area this afternoon, warning people of the possibility of slipping and sliding by morning.

Accident blocks busy road in Jackson

Early this afternoon a two-car accident blocked the intersection of Main and Ohio streets in uptown Jackson. As of 2:30 p.m. the road was still closed to traffic as police waited on a street sweeper to clear the wreckage.

Few details are available at this time, but we'll update this story as more information comes in.

In other road crash news, three people were killed over the weekend in a crash in Ripley County, Mo., the Daily American Republic newspaper reports.

Schaefer's to expand into Cape Girardeau County

Last year Advance, Mo., based Schaefer's Electrical Enclosures lost out on its attempt to expand into Cape Girardeau County by purchasing the building once used by Dana Corp.

Over a year later the company has finally found a facility to allow the expansion here, by purchasing a building on Nash Road.
