Two Cape Girardeau restaurants have put their buildings up for sale, though the owner of one of them says it's a precautionary measure, a way to prepare for the future.

The buildings that house Stevie's Steakburger, a burger joint that opened this summer on Broadway, and Jimmi's Bar and Restaurant, a casual dining place near Schnucks that opened in 2007, are on the sale block, but for different reasons.

Police: Meth producers beware

The SEMO Drug Task Force says it's focusing hard on methamphetamine again, following an increase in manufacturing activity around the area.

In a story published over the weekend in the Standard Democrat newspaper out of Sikeston, the head of the task force said the group and other local law enforcement agencies are cracking down on meth producers — a crackdown that has led to a spate of meth arrests in the last week.

Dogfighting ring uncovered?

Police and humane society workers in the Bootheel say they've uncovered a pit bull dogfighting ring in the town of Steele. The discovery comes on the heels of the acquittal last week of a man who was accused of being part of a dogfighting ring in Stoddard County.
