A torch-lighting ceremony will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday in Cape Girardeau in preparation for the Show-Me State Games.

The event will begin at the Arena Building in Arena Park with a brief torch lighting ceremony with speakers from the Show-Me State Games and Shelter Insurance and Mayor Harry Rediger.

Cape Girardeau residents will then run the torch to the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Kingshighway.

The Show-Me State Games is an annual Olympic-style festival offering more than 40 sports for Missourians of all ages and ability levels that takes place in Columbia throughout July. The torch will travel throughout Missouri before the games begin.
