Traffic signals at two busy locations on William Street in Cape Girardeau will be turned off this morning while AmerenUE replaces a transformer, Missouri Department of Transportation officials said.

The signals will be turned off at the Interstate 55 northbound on-ramp and at the Farrar Drive intersection.

The work is expected to start at 9 a.m. MoDOT officials said the work could take a couple of hours to complete.

Cape Girardeau police will direct traffic while the signals are turned off, MoDOT officials said.
