Trooper Blaine Adams, 36, was promoted to corporal Aug. 1. He will be designated as assistant zone commander of Zone 4, Cape Girardeau.

Adams is a 1978 graduate of Jackson High School where he earned all-district honors in football. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in social work and a minor in criminal justice and psychology.

He is married to the former Linda Groves of Charleston. He has one step-son, Chris Pike, 15, and one daughter, Montana, 2.

Adams worked for the Board of Probation and Parole in Scott and Mississippi counties from 1984-86 and in Cape Girardeau County in 1986-87. He was then appointed to the Highway Patrol Academy in July 1987.

His first assignment was in Portageville and he was later transferred to Cape Girardeau in May 1990.
