Two suspects were arrested for allegedly burglarizing First Baptist Church early Wednesday morning in Jackson.

Zachary J. Carpentier, 23, and Natalie P. Owens were charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree stealing and felony property damage.

Officers went to the church about 4 a.m. after a member of the janitorial crew reported seeing flashlights inside the building and a man inside, according to the news release from Jackson Police Department Capt. Rodney Barnes.

When police arrived, Carpentier was seen fleeing the location, and officers chased him on foot, Barnes wrote. Owens was apprehended near the church.

Laptop computers and sound equipment had been stolen and placed in backpacks. Burglary tools also were found.

Bond for Carpentier was set at $20,000, and bond for Owens was set at $12,500.
