The money will be used to buy equipment to expand coverage to the Farmington, Mo., area, U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson said in announcing the funding.

The money will be spent to set up a public ratio station in Farmington that will carry the programming of KRCU, 90.9 FM, the region's Public Radio affiliate station in Cape Girardeau. The funding also will allow KRCU to buy more equipment for its Cape Girardeau studio, said Danny Woods, KRCU station manager.
