Firefighters work to put out a vehicle fire around 3 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Common Pleas Courthouse at 44 N. Lorimier St. When firefighters arrived they found a 2009 Hyundai Sonata fully engulfed in flames. The fire started inside the passenger area of the car, not in the engine, said Capt. Dean Lynn with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department. The car was determined to be a total loss. It belonged to Carol Kellison, who lives in an apartment building across Lorimier Street.
