OLMSTED -- Elmer L. Rose and Joe R. George finished one-two in the balloting for four-year terms as Olmsted Village trustees, but the third position will have to be decided later.

Rose collected 55 votes and George was only a vote back in Southern Illinois voting Tuesday. Joe Robertson and David Munsel tied with 51 votes each. Randy C. Neely finished with 43 votes.

Candidates for the Olmsted Library Board were unopposed. Jean Picket collected 93 votes and Charlotte L. Burd, 67 in voting for two six-year terms. Denver R. Shelton had 78 votes for an unexpired two-year term.

Few municipal elections were contested in Pulaski County Tuesday.

Dean L. Logan Sr., who has been serving as interim mayor at Pulaski, following the resignation of the former mayor about mid-term, was formally elected, with no opposition.

Rogan received 47 votes to lead the Pulaski village ticket.

Three more unexpired, two-year-terms were also filled, all by unopposed candidates.

They were: Hazel M. Tolar, who resigned as city clerk to run for village trustee, received 32 votes for that position; Ardis M. Ward received 37 votes for the unexpired term of village clerk; and Charles R. Jones, filling an unexpired term for treasurer, received 34 votes.

In other Pulaski voting, Lexie M. Pigee and Barbara McElmurray each received 45 votes and Elijah had 43 votes to fill three four-year village trustee position.

Three candidates were on the ballot of Ward One Alderman at Mound City, where James "Jim" Davis collected 82 votes to emerge the winner of the four-year term. Norman "Gene" Koen finished second in the balloting with 56 votes and Anthony J. Shelton collected 10.

Artie L. Dickerson Jr. emerged the winner of the four-year term in Ward II at Mound City, with 77 votes, defeating Cleveland Forbes, who had 58 votes. In balloting for an unexpired two-year term, Tim Schaal beat out three candidates, with 64 votes. Other candidates and votes were James Madison with 47, and Chris S. Johnson, 23.

Carl E. Bode was the only candidate in Ward III Mound City, collecting 22 votes.

Larry Earnhart led five candidates in the balloting for three four-year trustee terms at Karnak, with 121 votes. Others elected included Roger Altenberger, with 107 votes, and Jesse D. Meyer with 99. Other candidates and votes were Diana L. Twitty with 55, and Harold E. Klpaa, 39. Melvin F. Horton was unopposed in a bid to fill an unexpired two-year term. He collected 99 votes. In balloting for an unfinished two-year term, Bob Edwards, who was unopposed, collected 70 votes.

Two unexpired terms were also filled by unopposed candidates at Grand Chain. Kent Dover collected 42 votes for village mayor, and Beth Voter received 38 votes to fill the two-year unexpired village clerk position. Three unopposed candidates were elected to four-year village trustee terms -- Arthur Ellis Jr., with 33 votes; Chase Madison with 39 and Richard McClellan with 38.

All other municipal candidates were unopposed.

Stanley Kesler and LaWanda Nicholson received 46 and 41 votes respectively for Ullin's four-year trustee terms.

Three candidates were unopposed at Mounds. Ronald E. Diggs collected 18 votes in Ward I; Nancy Beegle had 15 votes in Ward II and Zachary Hannan had 22 votes in Ward III.

Four unopposed candidates -- David Britton, George A. Floyd, Carolyn Dumas and Paul Helman -- were elected to Meridan Unit 101 Board of Education. Don E. Patton and Manual Goins were unopposed for trustees of the Community College District; D.H. Ferguson, Pulaski County; and Dorothy Gragg, Massac County, were unopposed for full terms as Regional Board of School Trustees: (Alexander, Johnson, Massa, Pulaski and Union Counties) and Geneva Elaine Bonifield, Alexander County, was unopposed for a two-year unexpired term.

In voting for Century District 100 School Board members, Garrett Wilson led the balloting in Pulaski County. Other candidates were Guy H. Inman, 266; Larry R, King, 206 and Kevin Ulrich, 180. Three members will be elected. Some voters in Alexander County voted in the Century School district.
