Wednesday is the deadline to register for the BBQ Fest which is being hosted by the Agri-Business Committee of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

The BBQ Fest will be held on Aug. 20 and 21 at Arena Park to promote beef and pork consumption.

"The team sheets are still coming it, but we hope to have around 25 to 30 groups participating in the event," said Linda Minner, administrative assistant for the chamber.

The cook-off teams are to be amateurs or backyard cooks and can consist of one or more members, said Edward L. Snider, chairman of the event.

A trophy and $100 will be given to the highest scoring team and trophies and/or ribbons will be given to the top three teams in each BBQ category. The categories are: hamburgers, beef kebabs, pork Boston butts and pork spare ribs. Judging of the teams will begin at noon on Aug. 21.

The fee for registration is $15 and to enter your team call Snider at 335-3521 or the Chamber office at 335-3312.
