Hope Thompson, 49, of Sedgewickville, Missouri, was killed Monday when the car her daughter was driving struck a deer on Highway 72, three miles east of Patton, Missouri. Hope Thompson, 49, of Sedgewickville, Missouri, was killed Monday when the car her daughter was driving struck a deer on Highway 72, three miles east of Patton, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the deer crashed through the windshield of the 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by Rhiannon Thompson, 16, of Sedgewickville, striking both occupants. Hope Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rhiannon Thompson was taken by helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau in serious condition.
