ORAN, Mo. -- AJ Pobst, 91, of Oran passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, on the family farm.
He was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to the late Tony and Lorena Alma Heisserer Pobst. He married Orilla Amanda Scheeter on Sept. 9, 1950, and she preceded him in death March 27, 2012.
AJ was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. AJ was a staff sergeant for the United States Army from October 1950 until October 1955.
He is survived by two sons, Rick (Vera) Pobst of Chaffee, Missouri, and Scott Pobst of Chaffee and his special friend Denise East and her two children, Morgan and Miranda East of Jackson; a daughter, Linda (Mark) Rhodes of Murphysboro, Illinois; a brother, Glen Pobst of Oran; four grandchildren, Markie Rhodes (Arron) Gott, Mallory Pobst, Mason Pobst, Jarod Pobst and Steve Mayo.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be at Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery in Oran.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Guardian Angel Catholic Church.
