DELTA -- Graveside service for Alice Orene Poinsett of Delta will be held at 1 p.m. today at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. The Rev. Glen Golden will officiate.

Friends may call today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Poinsett, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 30, 1907, at Whitewater, daughter of William and Ida L. Snider Birkman. She and Roby August Poinsett were married Dec. 9, 1926. He died Jan. 20, 1975.

Survivors include two sons, Calvin Poinsett of Whitewater, Carl Poinsett of Florissant; a daughter, Joann Jones of Delta; two brothers, William Birkman Jr. of Advance, Charles Birkman of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Genevieve Leggett and Billie Smith of Advance, Pauline Smith of Perryville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and sister.
