JACKSON -- Funeral for Alvin A. Rhodes of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. John Rice will officiate. Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Francis Memorial Park in Bonne Terre.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Rhodes, 75, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1925, at Doe Run, son of O.D. and Beulah Downs Rhodes. He and Rachel Eileen Hays were married Dec. 22, 1946, at Esther.
Rhodes was employed by Wetterau Foods 32 years, retiring in 1989. He had also worked at St. Joe Lead Co. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post and VFW Post in Farmington.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Marvin Rhodes of Columbia, Edwin "Pete" Rhodes and Vernon "Peewee" Rhodes of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Vivian Wampler of Montrose, Colo., Evelyn Seal of Farmington; two grandchildren, Billie Eileen Rhodes and Casey Wayne Rhodes of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Wayne, and a brother, Dayton "Mac" Rhodes.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to New McKendree United Methodist Church.
