SCOTT CITY -- Andrew L. Schaefer, 56, of Scott City, died Friday, Aug. 30, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1940, at Oran, son of Zeno Michael and Barbara Helen Glueck Schaefer. He and Mabel Nell Simmons Boyett were married Sept. 5, 1975, at Scott City. She survives.

Schaefer was employed as a conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church and the United Transportation Union.

Survivors include his mother and wife, both of Scott City; three daughters, Mary McLaird and Debbie Griffaw, both of Cape Girardeau, and Cindy Killian of Scott City; four brothers, Zeno M. Schaefer of Russelville, Ark., Cleophus "Butch" Schaefer of Bell City, Marcus Schaefer of Benton and Lawrence Schaefer of Cape Girardeau; 10 sisters, Ann Ingram of Chaffee, Edna Crosswite of Rocheport, Barbara Flippo of Sikeston, Valeria Lee of San Diego, Darlene Laton of Camron, N.C., Kathy Elizondo of Cape Girardeau and Xaveria "Fat" Sturm, Marian Wyatt, Cynthia and Karla Schaefer, all of Scott City; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Jim King officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
