PERRYVILLE -- Arthur A. Ehlers, 90, of Perryville died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1906, at Gorham, Ill., son of John and Sophia Boehme Ehlers.

He married Lilly Fritsche on Sept. 14, 1930. She died Jan. 14, 1995.

He was a retired shoeworker, a former owner/operator of an art gallery at Frohna and a school bus driver. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Choir and a Finance Board secretary.

He is survived by three sons, Leonard Ehlers and "Arthur" John Ehlers, both of Perryville, and Orville Ehlers of Jackson; five daughters, Ruth E. Pohlmann and Arleen Pfeiffer, both of Perryville, Lenora Krieg of Dubuque, Iowa, Ruby Candler of Red Bud, Ill., and Lilly Gholston of Denton, Texas; 26 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, five sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Young & Sons Chapel in Perryville.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donald Loesch. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
