Azalea Devore, 94, of Whitewater passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at her home. She was born March 20, 1920, at Crump, daughter of Ora Franklin and Arra McGuire Slinkard. She and Ira Lee Devore were married Dec. 21, 1940, in Benton, Missouri. He passed away March 18, 1996...

Azalea Devore, 94, of Whitewater passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at her home.

She was born March 20, 1920, at Crump, daughter of Ora Franklin and Arra McGuire Slinkard. She and Ira Lee Devore were married Dec. 21, 1940, in Benton, Missouri. He passed away March 18, 1996.

For many years Azalea was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church, a UMW member and former member of Whitewater Eastern Star. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener.

Loving survivors include a son, Jack (Janice) Devore of Jackson; a daughter, Sharon (Mike) Coats of West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jackie (David) Retherford of Advance, Missouri, Scott Devore of Whitewater, Todd Menz, Kelley Edwards and Brian (Shelly) Menz, all of West Plains; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at Whitewater United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Interment will be in Whitewater United Methodist Cemetery.

Arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Crown Hospice or Whitewater United Methodist Church.
