Barbara Allen Dirnberger, 63, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Ratliff Care Center, with family and the support of Southeast Hospice by her side. Barbara Allen Dirnberger, 63, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Ratliff Care Center, with family and the support of Southeast Hospice by her side.

She was born June 8, 1951, at Fredericktown, Missouri, to Billy N. and Pearl E. Ferguson Huffman. She and Glen Dirnberger were married May 23, 1997, at St. Lawrence Church in New Hamburg, Missouri.

Barbara was a registered nurse at Southeast Hospital 20 years in various departments, and also at Cape Girardeau County Health Department 2 1/2 years. She attended Cape First when her health would allow.

She enjoyed giving and doing for others. Animals were an important part of her life. She spoiled and loved them very much. She enjoyed people very much and never met a stranger. She was always busy crafting, sewing and making many items that she always gave to her many friends, family and others.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Glen Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau; a son, Scott Allen of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Carol Heitman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Southeast Hospice, Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
