BIEHLE, Mo. -- Bernard W. "Bernie" Hotop, 72, of Biehle died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at his home. He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Perry County, to Julius and Violet Snyder Hotop. He and Bonnie R. Moll were married May 8, 1965. Bernie was a retired carpenter, working for Fixture Construction. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church at Biehle, an officer of Amvets and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus...

BIEHLE, Mo. -- Bernard W. "Bernie" Hotop, 72, of Biehle died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at his home.

He was born Sept. 25, 1938, in Perry County, to Julius and Violet Snyder Hotop. He and Bonnie R. Moll were married May 8, 1965.

Bernie was a retired carpenter, working for Fixture Construction. He was a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church at Biehle, an officer of Amvets and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Hotop of Biehle; six sons, Scott (Tammy) Obendorfer of Gloschie, Va., Bill Hotop of Biehle, Mike Hotop of Perryville, Mo., Mark (Kelly), Matthew (friend Megan) and Jason (Tina) Hotop of Biehle; two brothers, Thomas Hotop of Perryville, Jim Hotop of Biehle; five sisters, Patricia Meyer of Biehle, Kathy Ruesler of Sedgewickville, Mo., Agnes Farrar of Imperial, Mo., Tess Miller of Altenburg, Mo., and Joan Hotop of Biehle.

Also nine grandchildren, Summer, Julia, Shawn, Shelby, Courtney, Brittany and Dustin Hotop, Josh and Ethan Obendorfer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish service with Knights of Columbus is at 7 p.m. Monday, and Amvets service at 7:15. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle. The Rev. Tony Dattilo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Maurus Cemetery, with graveside military honors courtesy of VFW.

Memorials preferred to Serenity Hospice or St. Maurus Church Hall.
