Bernhardt H. "Bern" Lang, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born July 20, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, son of Hugo and Anna Mae Fischer Lang. He and Marjorie Gohn were married Nov. 19, 1948, in Hernando, Miss. She died March 29, 1991...

Bernhardt H. "Bern" Lang, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, son of Hugo and Anna Mae Fischer Lang. He and Marjorie Gohn were married Nov. 19, 1948, in Hernando, Miss. She died March 29, 1991.

Bern was a second generation owner of Lang's Jewelry Store. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, and life member of VFW Post 3838. He was a former member of American Legion Post 63 and Breakfast Optimist Club.

He served in the U.S. Army Military Police from April 1946 to April 1947.

Survivors include a son, Roger W. Lang and wife Judith Anne of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Jan Karraker and husband Timothy J. of Cape Girardeau, Patricia Fuhrmann and husband James C. of Decatur, Ill.; four grandchildren, Erica Amaker of Cape Girardeau, Stacey Fuhrmann and Ryan Fuhrmann of Decatur, Thomas Karraker of Cape Girardeau; and a stepgranddaughter, Vicki Ventrella of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Randy Heckman and Ernest Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military rites by Missouri Honor Guard and VFW Post 3838.
