She had been looking forward to Glory and was at peace with her Redeemer.

Born on March 15, 1921, at Dongola, Missouri, Bernice was the daughter of Albert and Lillie Anderson Watson.

At 96, she had a long and varied life. She always was active in her church, was an accomplished quilter, avid gardener, fabulous cook, keen card player and a good friend. She was famous with her grandchildren for strawberry picking, jelly making, homemade chicken and dumplings and, of course, pies and cobblers.

Courage was also one of her big attributes. She battled cancer at a young age and then was a single parent for years. She continued her education also as an adult, and supported her family.

Her grandchildren called her Go-Go Granny, and her family celebrates her faith and life.

She lived many of her years in Lutesville/Marble Hill, Missouri, and spent the remainder of her last years residing in St. Louis, near her son, who was also her caregiver.

She is survived by a large family, including three daughters and a son, Joyce (Dr. David) Marshall of Omaha, Nebraska, Sue (Dr. John) Brunner of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Kay (M.L.) Miller of Natchez, Mississippi, and Timothy Dees of St. Louis; and a sister, Charlotte (Mike) Proffer of Cape Girardeau.

She had 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clyde W. Sneed; her parents, Albert and Lillie Watson; two brothers; and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held following the service, with refreshments.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
