ST. CHARLES — Bertha Lee Dannenmueller Lloyd, 95, went to her heavenly home Saturday, March 16, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in St. Charles. Born Feb. 26, 1929, Bertha was the seventh of nine children of Albert and Rose Welter Dannenmueller of Oran. On June 24, 1978, she married John W. Lloyd at St. David’s Catholic Church in Arnold. ST. CHARLES — Bertha Lee Dannenmueller Lloyd, 95, went to her heavenly home Saturday, March 16, 2024, at NHC Healthcare in St. Charles.

Born Feb. 26, 1929, Bertha was the seventh of nine children of Albert and Rose Welter Dannenmueller of Oran. On June 24, 1978, she married John W. Lloyd at St. David’s Catholic Church in Arnold. He preceded her in death Nov. 9, 2004.

Bertha devoted much of her life to teaching in Illinois and Missouri. She spent several years with the Middle and Pevely Elementary schools in the Dunklin R-5 School District at Herculaneum. She retired in 1991.

For the past 14 years, Bertha resided at the Lake St. Charles Retirement Community, where she made many friends with whom she enjoyed numerous games and other activities offered there. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching their games on television. She loved visiting with family and friends and playing cards, and was never at a loss for stories to share. She had a keen sense of humor and wit, and her smile and laughter were contagious. Before moving to the retirement community, Bertha was a member of All Saints Parish in St. Peters. While there, she devoted many hours making rosaries for missions around the world.

At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in St. Charles.

Bertha is survived by her stepson, William D. Morath of Webster Groves; daughter, Ellen (Chris) Thompson of Queen Creek, Arizona; and the following grandchildren, Molly Morath of Cedar Hill, Luke Morath of Pensacola, Florida, Kaycee Schuline of Tucson, Arizona, Nathan Schuline of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sgt. Jonah Schuline, U.S. Air Force, stationed in Aviano, Italy.

In addition, she is survived by four great-grandchildren and many adoring nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was preceded in death by three brothers, Cornelius, Leroy and Alfred Dannenmueller; five sisters, Velma Eftink, Viola Dirnberger, Lavana LeGrand, Ella Dannenmueller and Mary Ann Dannenmueller; son-in-law, Gary Schuline; grandson, Jonathan Schuline; and daughter-in-law, Arline Morath.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at St. David’s Catholic Church, 2334 Tenbrook Road in Arnold.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the church, with the Rev. John Brennell officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Lloyd family plot at Glade Chapel Cemetery, 8202 Hillsboro-House Springs Road in Hillsboro.
