MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Betty J. Goodlin, 84, of Mound City died Friday evening, March 25, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 9,1926, in Cairo, Ill., the daughter of the late Henry J. and Lizzie Farley Lieb. She was married to John Goodlin, who also preceded her in death. She was employed as a recording clerk for the Pulaski County clerk's office and as a teacher's aide for the Meridian Elementary School before her retirement. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a dear friend, Bill Scales.

Mrs. Goodlin is survived by one daughter, Lisa Goodlin, her husband, Mario Saenz, and one grandson, Miguel Saenz, all of Syracuse, N.Y.; one sister, Lucille Klosterman of Mounds, Ill.; two brothers, Henry J. Lieb Jr. of Rockford, Ill., and Robert Lieb of Mounds; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation is at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Goodlin will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, with the Rev. Larry Miller and the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating.

Interment will follow at Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.

At the request of the family, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the charity of the donor's choice in memory of Mrs. Goodlin.
