Betty Jean Meyers of Jackson, formerly of Bonne Terre, was called to her heavenly home Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at the age of 70. Betty was born Aug. 12, 1935 in Farmington, Mo., daughter of Frank J. Sr. and Mildred E. (McCallister) McDowell. She was married to Donald L. Meyers Aug. 18, 1952...

Betty Jean Meyers of Jackson, formerly of Bonne Terre, was called to her heavenly home Friday, Dec. 16, 2005 at the age of 70.

Betty was born Aug. 12, 1935 in Farmington, Mo., daughter of Frank J. Sr. and Mildred E. (McCallister) McDowell. She was married to Donald L. Meyers Aug. 18, 1952.

Her home church was Marvin Chapel Methodist Church and she was currently a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville. Betty seemed to find a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. She was admired for her spirituality, dedication, hard-work attitude and her strong focus on family.

Her loving survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis L. Meyers and Launa Rae of Bailey, Colo.; a daughter, Donna J. Birk of Jackson, Mo.; grandchildren, Josh and Clay Birk, Denny Jr. and Bridgett Meyers; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank J. McDowell Jr. and wife Marilyn of League City, Texas, and Paul L. McDowell Sr. and wife Leona of Bonne Terre, Mo.; many very special nieces, nephews and close friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Thomas W. McDowell and Loraine Bailey, and her grandson, Chad Birk.

Friends may call at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Mo., from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at Marvin Chapel Methodist Church.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. at Marvin Chapel Methodist Church.

Betty's family invites everyone to celebrate her life and rejoice that she will forever be in peace with her heavenly Father.

Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
