PUXICO -- Funeral service for William "Bill" Harmon of Puxico will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. The Rev. Amos Dees and Dr. Wesley Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8:30 p.m. today.
Harmon, 71, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, at Randles, son of Walker C. and Mabel Wood Harmon.
Harmon was a retired printer and employee of Cox Enterprises. He owned the Puxico Press Newspaper in the 1950s.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, life member and past commander of Puxico VFW Post 7822; and also held life memberships in Disabled American Veterans of Poplar Bluff, American Legion, and Military Order of Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; a son, Norman Ogles of San Jose, Calif.; an adopted daughter, Annette Robertson of Humble, Texas; a brother, John Harmon of Puxico; a sister, Mary Coutavas of Fishkill, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sons.
