Bill McCormack, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at his home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1922, at Marquand, Mo., son of James H. and Nancy Starkey McCormack. He and Helen Robbs were married Aug. 4, 1945, at Flat River, Mo.

Mr. McCormack worked 10 years for Caterpillar in Peoria, Ill. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1958. He worked at Davis Electric five years, owned and operated McCormack Grocery Store and a Harley-Davidson dealership, as well as McCormack Excavating. He retired in 1982.

He was a member of First General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis (Shirley) McCormack of Jackson, Robert (Marsha) McCormack of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Sheila (Jerry) Stephens of Hilton Head, N.C.; three brothers, Clint McCormack of Patton, Mo., Oscar McCormack of Marquand, Mo., and Claude McCormack of Birch Run, Mich.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Greg (Marcie) Brown, Mark (Melanie) Lutes, Jimmy McCormack, Spencer Stephens, Elizabeth Stephens, Tyler McCormack and Kyle McCormack; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Lutes and Paige Lutes.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Sam Ramdial and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
