Bill J. Reynolds, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, son of John Bill and Daisy Ellis Reynolds. He and Venieda Limbaugh were married May 2, 1953, in Cape Girardeau.

He graduated from College High School in 1946, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Reynolds served in the U.S. Navy.

He was an active member of Lynwood Baptist Church. He was a member of the "The Statesman" quartet while in college. He later sang many years with local groups.

He was "The Voice of the Indians" with KFVS Radio as he called basketball, football, and baseball games throughout the state. He was also the early morning voice of KFVS radio.

He and his wife owned and operated Oglanders men's and women's clothing store five years. He was elected for six terms as Cape Girardeau County treasurer from 1980 to 2005, and was past president of the State Treasurers Association. He was a member of American Legion Post 63. He coached Little League baseball for his son which caused him to throw down his clipboard many times. Honesty and humor were attributes that gained him many loyal friends.

Survivors include his wife, Venieda Limbaugh Reynolds of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tammy Johns and husband Roger of Kerrville, Texas; a son, Terry Reynolds of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two grandsons, Paul Johns and wife Alyssa of Columbus, Ohio, and Adam Reynolds and wife Melissa who are overseas in the Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Ellis Reynolds; and a sister, Virginia Steinhoff.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lynwood Baptist Church.

Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
