VILLA RIDGE, Ill. — Blanche M. Britton, 104, of Villa Ridge passed away at 12:35 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Union County Nursing Home in Anna, Illinois.

Blanche was born June 18, 1911, at Slater, Kentucky, daughter of the late George and Mary Kay Stricklen Stennett.

Blanche was one of the last living members of the former Mounds Congregational Church in Mounds, Illinois. She was a member of the Pulaski-Alexander County Farm Bureau, and had been active and worked at the Smiles One Senior Citizen Center in Mounds.

Blanche graduated from the Thistlewood School in Mounds, and was a retired postal clerk at the Villa Ridge post office.

She also was a housewife and homemaker.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benson Britton; a daughter, Shirley Johnson; a granddaughter, Joda (Spaulding) Dillow; two brothers, Virgil and Andy Stennett; and two sons-in-law, Harold Prim and Jim Hale.

Survivors include a son, Irving (Pat) Britton of Villa Ridge; a daughter, Kay Hale of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; a son-in-law, Gene Johnson of Calvert City, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Christy (Bob) Spaulding, Bennie (Kim) Britton, Barbara (Warren) Crain, Bill (Barb) Britton, David Britton, Mike (Lisa) Johnson, Linda Johnson (B.J.), Mary Ellen (Randy) Daves and Dale Lynn (Norma) Prim; 24 great-grandchildren; and 49 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday at Jones Funeral Home Villa Ridge.

The funeral service was Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Interment was in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Shiloh Baptist Church at Villa Ridge or to Smiles Senior Citizen Center in Mounds.
