PUXICO, Mo. -- Elvin "Bob" Payne, 88, of Puxico passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 27, 1919, at Zalma, Mo., son of Eli and Lydia Carver Payne.
Bob was a retired head sawyer at a saw mill and of the General Baptist belief.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Bob and Ruth Carver were united in marriage July 1, 1950, at Zalma. She preceded him in death July 1, 1989. He later married Thelma Grim on Feb. 2, 1991.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald (Kathy) Payne of Advance, Mo., Terry (Gina) Payne of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Annette (Andy) Deckard of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Leeman H. Payne of Cape Girardeau, Denver and Dean Payne of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Burial will be in McGee New Hope Cemetery at McGee, Mo., with full military rites.
