ORAN -- Burl L. Anthony, 90, of Oran, died Saturday, July 2, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born July 1, 1904, at London, Ark., to the son of General Jackson and Mary Rhoda Shandy Anthony. He married Mary R. Waldo, Aug. 10, 1929. She died March 10, 1986...

ORAN -- Burl L. Anthony, 90, of Oran, died Saturday, July 2, 1994, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born July 1, 1904, at London, Ark., to the son of General Jackson and Mary Rhoda Shandy Anthony.

He married Mary R. Waldo, Aug. 10, 1929. She died March 10, 1986.

Anthony was a retired farmer. For many years he ran the E.P. Coleman Cotton Gin in Oran, and later operated the Riley Cotton Gin in Kewanee.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oran and he belonged to the Morley Masonic Lodge 184.

Survivors include two sons, Tharon Anthony of Levelland, Texas, Aaron Anthony of London, Ark.; two daughters, Wanda Smith of Houston, Texas, Glenda Buchanan of Sikeston; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Oran, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating.

Burial will follow in Forrest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
