TAMMS, Ill. -- Calvin Earl Ashworth, 63, of Thebes, Ill., formerly of Mound City and Cairo, Ill., died at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Veterans Adminsistration Hospital in Marion Ill.

Ashworth was born in Mounds City, Ill., Nov. 9, 1930. His father is Mark Hannah Ashworth and mother is Ruth Myrtle Haws Ashworth.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and member of the VFW Post of McCluer, Ill. Ashworth was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Fulcher.

Survivers include his wife, Louise Vaughn Ashworth of Thebes, and five sons : Calvin Ashworth of Cape Girardeau, Alvin Ashworth of Olive Branch, Mike Ashworth of Thebes, Donald of East Prairie, and Tony of Springfield, Mo.

He had one daughter, Susie Vaughn of Olive Branch, three stepsons, Rick Edwards, Greencastle, Ind., Terry Edwards of DeLand, Fla., and Clifford Edwards of Thebes, Ill.

He also has four brothers, Hannah Ashworth and Mark Ashworth, both of Olive Branch, Billy Ashworth of Cairo and Ronnie Ashworth of East Cape. He has one sister, Patsy Steele of Jacksonville, Ill., five grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Richwood Cemetery in Unity, Ill. The Rev. Carl D. Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow in the Richwood Cemetery. No visitation is allowed. Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
