HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas -- Carol Louise Young, 68, of Harker Heights passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights.

Carol Louise Young was born Feb. 13, 1947, at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau and baptized March 23, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

She grew up as the eldest of three siblings in the Young household. She attended Trinity Lutheran School in Cape Girardeau through her sixth-grade year. She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Metropolis, Illinois, on April 17, 1960.

The family moved to Metropolis, where she attended Metropolis Junior High School. She graduated from Metropolis Community High School as a member of the Class of 1964. After high school, Carol attended Paducah (Kentucky) Junior College, Paducah Business School and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

She held various secretarial positions in Metropolis, Springfield, Illinois, and Paducah, ultimately securing a position as a secure-records librarian for the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant. She then worked as a Clinique Consultant for Dillard's Department Store in Paducah until failing health dictated her retirement. She subsequently moved to Harker Heights to live with her sister and brother-in-law.

She transferred her church membership at that time from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Paducah to Grace Lutheran Church in Killeen, Texas. She was an active member of the Grace Guild and enjoyed coordinating social events at the church, along with attending worship services and Thursday Morning Bible Study.
