Charles Edwin Hahn, 87, originally of Scott City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Fornfelt to Charles and Stella Blattel Hahn. He and Vidamae Catherine Moore were married April 19, 1947. She preceded him in death July 27, 2010.

Charles was chief clerk for the Cotton Belt Railroad in East St. Louis for 46 years. He was the union secretary/treasurer. He was of the Catholic faith, was very active in the pro-life movement and was a resident of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community for the last two years. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include three sons, Richard Hahn of Edwardsville, Ill., Dan Hahn of Groton, N.Y., and Kenneth Hahn of St. Louis; four daughters, Sandra Anderson of Montrose, Colo., Sue Latinette of Pittsburgh, Mary Jo Vogt of Dupo, Ill., and Lisa Spies of Jackson; one brother, Gene Hahn of Parkville, Mo.; three sisters, Eileen Ernst of Scott City, Shirley Hopper of Derby, Kan., and Denise McLean of Naples, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 604 Sycamore St., in Scott City.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Scott City. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
