ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Charlotte R. Hecht, 69, of Altenburg died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Shawneetown, daughter of Elmer "Pete" and Elsie R. Winter Saupe. She and Bob Hecht were married May 11, 1963. Charlotte was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, LWML, hospice volunteer at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Stephen minister volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau and member of East Perry County Lions Club. ...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Charlotte R. Hecht, 69, of Altenburg died Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at her home.

She was born Jan. 21, 1944, in Shawneetown, daughter of Elmer "Pete" and Elsie R. Winter Saupe. She and Bob Hecht were married May 11, 1963.

Charlotte was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, LWML, hospice volunteer at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Stephen minister volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau and member of East Perry County Lions Club. She adored her grandchildren, participating in church activities and hugs.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Michelle (Neal) Franke of Altenburg; three sons, Mike (MaryKay) Hecht, Greg (Julie) Hecht and Dan (Jennifer) Hecht, all of Jackson; a sister, Doris (Mel) Schmidt of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Glenn (Doris) Saupe of Shawneetown; a brother-in-law, Cecil Turner of Cape Girardeau; and 10 grandchildren, Allison, Taylor, Logan, Noah, Lauren, Jordan, Grant, Adam, Evan and Erin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marilyn Turner.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Jonathon Stites officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Saxony Lutheran High School or a charity of choice.
