MULKEYTOWN, Ill. -- Cheryl "Cherie" Browning, 62, of Mulkeytown died Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Herrin Hospital Emergency Room in Herrin, Ill. She was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Carbondale, Ill., daughter of Leon and Leona Johnson Swisher. She and Gary Browning were married July 12, 1975...

MULKEYTOWN, Ill. -- Cheryl "Cherie" Browning, 62, of Mulkeytown died Thursday, April 3, 2014, in Herrin Hospital Emergency Room in Herrin, Ill.

She was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Carbondale, Ill., daughter of Leon and Leona Johnson Swisher. She and Gary Browning were married July 12, 1975.

Cheryl operated Nana's Nook restaurant in Royalton, Ill., and attended Royalton Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joey Browning (girlfriend Denise Bradshaw) of Mulkeytown; a daughter, Angie Worley of Mulkeytown; a grandson, Braden Worley; and two sisters, Amy (Jeffrey) Jones of Wylie, Texas, and Paula (David) Payne of Benton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, Ill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with David Sorensen officiating. Interment will be in Ward Cemetery in Mulkeytown.
