WHITEWATER, Mo. -- Chester Kinder, age 99, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, followed by interment in Zion Methodist Cemetery at Gordonville, Mo. The Rev. Ann Mowery will officiate.
Mr. Kinder was born Oct. 18, 1902, the son of George and Cora Felty Kinder. He and Lillian Grebe were married Sept. 21, 1929, at Jackson. She passed away Feb. 25, 1977.
Loving survivors include one son, Gerald Kinder of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Melba Nickless and husband Glendal of Arnold, Mo., Norma Niswonger and husband Raymond of Whitewater, Betty Starks of St. Louis, Shirlene Deneke and husband Ronald of Gordonville, Joyce Kinder of Whitewater, Faye Deneke and husband Wayne of Gordonville; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kinder was preceded in death by one son, Donald L. Kinder; one grandson; two brothers; and four sisters.
Kinder was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church. He had worked for Moog-Industries for many years, retiring in 1962. He was also an avid gardener.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Gordonville United Methodist cemetery.
