C.L. Richmond

C.L. "Babe" Richmond, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, June 30, 2023, at Capetown Assisted Living.

He was born Sept. 8, 1928, in Cape Girardeau to Elijah and Hester Holcomb Richmond.

C.L. and Beverly June Lett were married March 23, 1958, in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death March 7, 2014.

He served in the Army in the Korean War.

He was an avid snow skier and loved spending time with his family. He loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats.

He operated C.L. Richmond Optometrist in Bloomfield, Missouri, where he practiced for 38 years.

He was a member of La Croix Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include three sons, Tim (Lana) Richmond, Ron (Susan) Richmond and Chris (Raina) Richmond, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Winfield Richmond of Dexter, Missouri; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

C.L. was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Harry Richmond of Tillman, Missouri; Carl Richmond of Advance, Missouri; and Wayne Richmond and H.M. Richmond, both of Bloomfield; and a sister, Marjorie Justice of Ventura, California.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
